Do You Have Your Own
Network Marketing Website?

Author Michael Lemm

Many people who join a network marketing company do not have their own website. They take the website their mlm company gives them and just refer people to that. To make this work you really need to be having direct contact with a prospective customer or distributor in person on the phone. To a lesser degree email marketing will work as well.

The biggest problem with this is that you have no way to develop your website into your own creation. You can still build a downline of distributors and you may even build a large enough group to make average or above average money. A select few will go on to make huge amounts of money and retire on the residual income they are earning for the rest of their lives.

The benefit of having your own website is that you can develop it around various keyword phrases that will eventually get you a high ranking with a search engine. By develop it I mean add new web pages or even start a blog for your website and make new posts in it on a regular basis.

If for some reason 6 months or 1 year, or at some time in the future you drop out of the network marketing company you are with you still have your website that you can continue to develop and you can add a new mlm company or companies to it.

As long as you are providing fresh content to your website on a consistent basis this becomes an investment in your future.

So I will suggest that you get your own website hosting company, and your own domain name, and start building a website of your own. If you do not have the skills consider learning them. If that seems impossible hire someone to do it for you. It is a decision you will not regret.

Your own website and learning how to build a web page gives you freedom in your business you would not otherwise have. Because of the internet you can promote more than one business and you can do it on one website.

By having a home page that is general in nature and then having sub domains that are specific to a particular product or niche you can build businesses with many different programs and products.

Or you could just promote one program per website and add additional websites whenever you join something else. The options are limitless, but the key is to expand beyond the mlm company provided replicated site.

Because the internet is here to stay and it offers many marketing advantages offline marketing does not, eventually everyone is going to have to learn how to use it if they want a large business.

However......having your own website as a network marketer can be like a double edged sword. It is a very handy tool, and if you have the skills, I agree you should have one. Maybe not to rely on 100% but to use as another way to help build your business.

The problem is most people do not know how to build websites. They do not know how to drive traffic to them. And for the most part they don't want to learn.

I am definitely not knocking having a website. But we need to have some offline marketing methods in place that are easier also. That way your new people can get started, and not get too wrapped up in learning online marketing first. A combination of the 2 is best.

Like if you had a postcard system in place. Most everyone already knows how to mail a postcard. Then in their spare time they can learn how to market their opportunity on the Internet.

I discovered the freedom of having my own hosting account that I could add unlimited domains and sites to early on in my business endeavors.

Interestingly enough, if the replicating site your company provides creates static html pages rather than being dynamically generated it is possible to get good search engine rankings. These are rare though and most companies do not want to deal with the amount of hard drive space this requires.

This being said, a website need not be thought of as the primary method of marketing. Although for many it can be and is (me included). Conversely many of those that I see at the top in any company are hard at it with person to person contacts. They use their website for business credibility and as a followup tool. A good postcard campaign reinforces that lesson very well. This is one method that has too often been neglected. However, without the website, the postcard would not have been effective at all.

I see one great way to work is to use the postcard or advertisement in print that drives people to a very informative, no-hype website that lays it all out for them to research. The site should then gently encourage the visitor to request more information using a form on the site that will give you their contact information and also generate some great followup letters from whatever autoresponder system you use.

The lesson......get yourself your own website. How you apply it is up to you. Just be smart about it and don't ignore offsite methods which would blend well with onsite dynamics.
